Children Our Future is a UK based charity making a difference to the lives of homeless, poor, neglected and abused children in Latvia.
Latvia is the country in Europe struggling the most from the current economic crisis. The economy has collapsed, unemployment has tripled, social benefits, health services, and education have been cut simply because the government has no money.
Those lucky enough to remain in employment are seeing their wages cut, by as much as 30 or 40%, especially in the state sector so the general standard of living is deteriorating dramatically and there is a significant increase in homelessness, alcoholism and general poverty.

The centre remains our key priority as it has a large impact on the children we are trying to help. The family situation of children in the area is so poor that the opportunity to spend time in a nice environment, have a good meal, a shower, play some games and get help with homework really does make a difference to their quality of life.
